Due to the important role of ammonia as a fertilizer in agricultural industry and its promising prospects an energy carrier, many studies have recently attempted find most environmentally benign, efficient, economically viable production process for synthesis. The commonly utilized method is Haber-Bosch process. downside this technology high greenhouse gas emissions, surpassing 2.16 kgCO 2 -eq/kg NH 3 amounts usage over 30 GJ/tonne NH3 mainly due strict operational conditions at temperature pressure. widely adopted sustainable hydrogen used synthesis water electrolysis coupled with renewable technologies such wind solar. In general, electrolyzer requires continuous supply pretreated purity levels operation. Moreover, 1 tonne hydrogen, 9 tonnes required. Based on data, same amount through electrolysis, 233.6 million tonnes/yr paper, critical review different processes emerging along comparative life cycle assessment various methods has been carried out. We that each studied technologies, either large GHG emissions are produced or volumes required combination both these factors occur.
